Beetling was the last stage in the manufacturing of linen - and Wellbrook is the last working Beetling Mill in Ireland and you can enjoy hands-on demonstrations of the linen process. The Mill has a 16ft water wheel, which is powered by the adjacent Ballinderry River.
The Beetling Mill is situated in an idyllic wooded glen with picnic spots by the banks of the river. As you come over the hill and see the river, the mill, its water wheel and traditional cottage, it looks as if nothing could disturb the tranquillity. But it is not always so quiet! If you come to the mill when there is flax pulling you will find a hive of industry and when the beetling engines are running the sound fills the valley.
Looks incredibly interesting and beautiful:) also gives a personal feeling since my family roots are nearby. I hope to visit this site, as I am planning a mid August holiday in Eire. go raibh mhaith agat, Maire
