Kilclief is an early tower-house built between 1413 and 1441 as a residence for John Cely the Bishop of Down. With its square projecting turrets, high arch and spiral staircases, it is one of the oldest in Lecale. The unusual style of this castle appears to have been a model for those at Ardglass, Strangford and other sites in the Lecale. Car parking available in nearby lay-by, Guided tours on request and Model & displays.

Wonderful, brings back memories of my summer holidays of 1963 and 1964. My Grandfather, Owen Maginn owned the land.
